UDP and TCP on Windows 10 desktop take anywhere between 10-30 seconds to connect, all while the internet stays down. NordLynx takes 1 second, if not less, of course I want that working. But after 10-30 minutes, it goes down, guaranteed. Fixed when I disconnect Nord and reconnect. After months upon months of trial and error with live agents, one technician asked me to uninstall Malwarebytes. Ooof. (Before they recommended the uninstall, they did ask me to add every NordVPN folder and file to the MWB allow list, that didn’t solve it.)
I’ve had MWB for 10 years, it’s worked great, so if uninstalling MWB fixes the issue, I’m not going to accept that as a solution. Nord doesn’t get to give me an ultimatum between two unrelated services like I’m choosing between two best friends mutual acquaintances in middle school.
Sure enough, I uninstalled MWB and NordLynx stopped crashing. Reinstalled, and it crashed. So I went back to live agent chat and I told them that they were right, but that I am not about to give up MWB for them, especially since I’ve also been using Surfshark, tested every protocol, everything works great and it only takes 2-5 seconds to connect, plus infinite devices versus 6 and better prices. They told me straight, copy-pasting from the chat here, “there isn’t much that we can offer.” So they went with the ultimatum. I went ahead and canceled auto-renewal for NordVPN.
I’ve done searches, I can’t find any evidence of anyone else having a clash between Nord and MWB, or Nord and other virus protection software. Is anyone here able to provide any information or past discussions that prove otherwise? I’m good with switching entirely to Surfshark but I am genuinely curious if a solution exists for Nord.
