So, usually I don’t keep the VPN running 24/7 but decided to change that. Problem is that whenever I return to the MacBook M2 running OS 13.5, The internet doesn’t work. No error message. It just goes nowhere and the only way to fix it is to disconnect the VPN and reconnect. I’m a paid user in the US and usually connect to a server in the US.
Kill switch is not enabled, the server can be as low as 8% busy, mostly use Stealth, accelerator on, Netshield set to block malware only. VPN ver. 3.1.4. OS firewall on, running Bitdefender AV excepting ProtonVPN app.
Any ideas?
Update, yesterday I removed and re-added the exception on BitDefender and changed to WireGuard. Stealth has been giving me too many google captcha’s anyways. This morning the internet was working normally. Is a little soon but we’ll see how it continues.
I’ve had the same issue and sent in a ticket to Proton about it last year but they couldn’t provide a good solution.
This is what I do that seems to help. If I am going to be away from my laptop long enough that it goes to sleep, I first turn off Wifi and then disconnect VPN.
Then when I use my laptop again, I turn the Wifi back on and then connect back to the VPN. This has been the only thing that I have found that prevents this issue.
Hi! We are aware of this behavior and our team is working on a resolution.
As a possible workaround, you can navigate to your System Settings > VPN > toggle the VPN off and then back on in order to be able to connect to the internet once again.
Please give this a try and let us know how it goes.
