I’ve found Windscribe’s speed to be perfectly acceptable.
Cause I’m cheap. I did not know about the dangers involved with free ones. I see a lot of deals but they all involve like $12+ a month or up front of like $100+ and you get like 2+ years depending on the company.

Yeah, people often bash the lifetime offers, but for me it’s worked well. I bought (Windscribe) from StackSocial a couple of years ago so, even if the company was to go tits-up tomorrow, I’ve more than had my money’s worth.
