This past summer I traveled to Japan and Korea, and worked remotely using the hotels’ WiFi. I am required to use RDP to access work when traveling internationally, but simple functions typing in Word would take about a second to register. It was a frustrating experience as I barely got any work done and thinking the fast internet speeds in both countries would make a difference.
Well I will be traveling internationally again very soon and need to figure out how to have a faster connection when in RDP. I’ve considered setting up my home PC with TeamViewer and working from there, but I think this might be against company policy as, technically, someone could view what I’m doing if they were at home (no one will be).
Would connecting VPN to a US-based (where I reside) server then connect via RDP help with the latency?
I’d like to make it clear that my employer is very well aware of my travels and work duties.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, I know nothing about networking…
