Microsoft email tries to mask a 1 week free trial as a 1 month free trial
Trial for what? Go get a trial from a different company.
Microsoft doesn’t sell VPN services. Don’t know who you just gave your bank info to but it’s not them and you’ll probably want to report that card as stolen.
Did you buy it through the Microsoft store? Microsoft doesn’t provide VPN services, and therefore, the email is probably just through their store.
FYI, Hotspot Shield is owned by AnchorFree. These people have a bad history. Consider dropping your money on another VPN, like Private Internet Access (which many recommend).
This isn’t a Microsoft product
That’s really not on Microsoft. That’s on whatever scammy app you downloaded that named their subscription that.
So it’s a trial free trial? Wtf is that?
Whoever tried to push “One month with trial free trial” should be on trial
So the product you bought is literally called “One Month with Trial” … easy to get duped
i dont think a big company like microsoft would go do something this fishy, you sure this is a legit email from windows?
User post tries to mask Hotspot Shield asshole design as Microsoft design
It’s one month (subscription) with (one week) free trial, not one month free trial.
Scummy and misleading but not strictly wrong.
If this is an email confirming something or other this seems to very phishy at best. Spelling and grammar, the use of PayPal (for a company that has its own payment network?) and the type of renaming of services. I’ve seen these type of things in phishing emails form all sorts of other companies, but this? It’s not expected behaviour, which is what large companies and processes provide (mostly). I’d change my cards immediately and alert your bank. And if you need a von service there are tons better and associates with less trouble: PureVPN, nordVPN just to name two.
the email address is stremail instead of storemail so you’re probably getting your bank info stolen
WTF? It started on Nov 4th, but they’ll send you “more details soon on how to get started”. Probably take a seven fucking days.
Ten years ago I bought a cellphone that advertised tethering. Tethering worked great until midnight on my 30th day, the moment my 30 day return policy ended. Tethering was offered through the phone manufacturer, not Sprint Corp. I had an absolute fit, lobbed the phone up onto their roof and never heard from them again. No fees, nothing. Have never done business with Sprint since.
*spelling
I’ve always wondered what kind of idiot Nigerian scammers targeted. Nice to meet you OP!
Your One Year Trial will start on November 4 and it’s free for 7 days. Charges to your PayPal will start on November 11.
Microsoft? More like MicroNot.
This is 10000% a scam
