Anyone else experiencing this issue? I can’t send iMessages when any VPN is turned on, they turn into green text and can’t be delivered. When turning off VPN they instantly deliver.
Same issue, after stable release, iMessage and FaceTime not working when all traffic goes out on VPN.
I am experiencing the exact same issue. Hoping it gets fixed in DB2.
Having this issue. I don’t have/use little snitch. I use Mullvad, I just installed their beta version which has split tunneling. I tried putting the Messages app in split tunneling, but it still didn’t work.
Using PIA and same issue on DB2.
Using Surge and got the same issue, not fixed even closed Surge
Does hand off work for you?
Same issue here… ExpressVPN
Looks like I have the same issue. Using WARP VPN and I can’t do anything with iMessage until I turn it off.
15.1 βeta4 released today, 9/17/24 and Winscribe VPN still has the iMessage send issue.
Using Intego and getting no iMessage when the VPN is turned on. And Intego is suggestingt that it is Apple who needs to correct the problem?
15.0.1 dropped yesterday and this still doesn’t work. this is unbelievable.
Doesn’t work with my WireGuard vpn either. I use OpenVPN for the connection to home.
reporting with the same issue so frustrating. I upgraded to Sequoia and it actually worked fine for several days - but when I got my iPhone 16 later in the week, that’s when it stopped working for me. I use Mullvad and when I turn it off everything immediately works again with no issues. I never had a single issue using a VPN (Mullvad or otherwise) until Sequoia + iPhone 16. what’s especially annoying is that every other iCloud-enabled app (notes, voice memos, reminders) syncs with absolutely no issue. I can even use iPhone mirroring but I cannot send or receive any messages on Mac.
I just installed the 15.0.1 update and the issue is resolved for me now.
Same here… Mullvad VPN
same using Mullivad.
The release notes for 15.1 claim that something is fixed related to imessage and VPN (bug number 136775545) https://developer.apple.com/documentation/macos-release-notes/macos-15_1-release-notes
I have everything updated, but using Norton, and it is still broken AS. Asking for honest help, how do I fix this and keep the same level of security and functionality?
Hey guys,
Just solved the issue configuring some of the IP addresses (I assume Apple ones) for exclusion in Split Tunnel settings.
Under Advanced → Split Tunnels, choose a mode:
Exclude IPs and domains — (Default) All traffic will be sent to Cloudflare Gateway except for the IPs and domains you specify.
You might exclude the entire 17.0.0.0/8 address block.
Or you might opt-out (my choice) to exclude narrower subnets:
IPv4:
- 17.249.0.0/16
- 17.252.0.0/16
- 17.57.144.0/22
- 17.188.128.0/18
- 17.188.20.0/23
IPv6:
- 2620:149:a44::/48
- 2403:300:a42::/48
- 2403:300:a51::/48
- 2a01:b740:a42::/48
