Looking for Prime and NETFLIX apps

Hi all,

I recently built a new computer and have an old one sitting around. After looking at several posts’ such as this one, I’ve decided to have a PLEX server running and use KODI as an interface while its hooked up to the living room TV, then Chromecasting for other rooms.

I found a good PLEX app in KODI, but can’t find AMAZON prime, NETFLIX or HULU. I looked for current REPO’s with no luck so far.

Any advice appreciated.

Need to enable 3rd party sources in Kodi

yeah I don’t think you will find a reliable solution for this. I tried for many years to watch Netflix and prime from Kodi (without VPN and other complications) and couldn’t get it to work. I would have loved to have everything into one device. now I use Google Chromecast TV for those two. weirdly, the Kodi app that I installed is not working correctly and it isn’t recognising the NTFS share on my network. hence I still have to use two devices…

The quick answer is that there aren’t any, or at least none that work well for extended periods of time. Kodi is not the platform to use if you want to use Prime, Netflix etc.

EDIT - I don’t know why you’re all downvoting me so hard. None of the apps posted in here work very well, and will undoubtedly stop working within a few months. Even the guy who replied to this saying “it works” followed up with - “The Kodi Addon definetly is worse than official apps, but it works”

I use Prime Video on this addon, it is slow to load pages, so i usually add to my watch-list then watch from there.

As far as i know there is a Netflix add-on but i have not tested it.

Both are unofficial as far as i know.

A better place to look for help is https://www.reddit.com/r/Addons4Kodi/

I have only used an Amazon app for strrsaming from Prime and it worked but there was one significant issue with it. The problem I had was that it would only stream at a really low quality, definetly not HD. I think it had something to do with DRM not working right so it could not access higher quality streams. I am running Kodi on Fedora so if you are using Windows you may have better luck.

Is there advantages over the official apps?

Gotcha, just wondering why anyone will choose to run netflix or prime on Kodi.

Mainly to have a consistent (and much better) interface:

  • I hate that every app implements skipping differently (and mostly worse than Kodi).
  • I also have to remember for every app how to get rid of the interface without stopping the movie (if I pulled it up for some reason).
  • In Kodi I can switch audio tracks or subtitles with dedicated buttons instead of show stopping menus.
  • Especially in Netflix I can’t see the title of the episode I’m watching. Just season and number. How bonkers is this? And I think even that pops up only after 10 seconds!?
  • If I want to catch a detail on pause Netflix dims the image and obstructs it with the shows title.

Netflix and Prime also go to screensaver to quickly for my taste when paused.

Oh and I absolutely f*cking hate Netflix’ self starting!
Everytime I just want to add something to my list or see how many episodes there are or how log they are, the f*cking first episode starts right away.

Oh speaking of “My List”: How much does it suck I can’t make my own lists? Why has everything to be in one big ass single list? It’s not even separated by movie/shows.
Using e.g. Super Favorites I can even create lists that contain Netflix, Prime and local media all mixed together!

The dedicated apps look better, yes. But functionality-wise they are just too limited!

The only thing nice is that you can skip the intro. But that’s not to hard to do yourself in Kodi (because skipping is so much better).

Primes “X-Ray” may also be nice for some, but I don’t need/use it.
