Has anyone been successful at getting a refund? I renewed for 2 years just a few months back and haven’t been able to use the AV or download it. I do not want this new AV, obviously. So I want to refund.
Also, it doesn’t even look like I can cancel the subscription or delete my card from the account either.
wait till trump legalizes kaspersky
It sucks that you cant update the databases anymore. I have 3 years of subscription left and now I have to turn on VPN every week to update my databases
This is Kaspersky saying “F” you to the US Gov.
Hey so just in case you aren’t aware, they just charged me $350 (for 3 years I guess? but they don’t specify, and it’s also not the same amount of product), I had cancelled Kaspersky a long time ago, but they still renewed it. They sent all of the emails to the first email that was ever used on the account, NOT the updated email! Thankfully I still had access to that email and was able to sign in and click the cancel auto-renewal button and chat to request a refund.
I doubt totalav will provide you a refund, but it can’t hurt to try. You might also want to try reaching out to Kaspersky to see if they can somehow issue a refund. If your bank will allow you, try to file a charge back for not getting the product you paid for (which you did not because you bought Kaspersky and now you have some weird program that was thrown together overnight and calls itself an anti-virus but doesn’t really work at all when compared to Kaspersky). You need to check if you can/try to file a charge back ASAP as you usually only have so much time to do so.
If none of this gets you anywhere you can try to file complaints with the various govt agencies, but otherwise you may just have to take the loss unfortunately.
Get it before Trump leaves you stranded out of loyalty to his friend.

It is possible to keep using KL with a VPN. I also had a couple of years left and was pissed when AV showed up on my desktop. I went for months without an anti-virus while looking for a replacement. I tried Bit Defender, but I didn’t like the UI, and the others, like McAfee, were too resource-consuming. Besides, I didn’t want to pay again.
It wasn’t until I got a new computer this Christmas that I thought about trying a VPN. I signed into my account and first downloaded the KL Password Manager. After that worked, I downloaded and installed the KL VPN… Yup, you know what I did next. I set the VPN to a country in the EU and downloaded my KL suite, and voila. Yes, I must connect to the VPN to update, but everything else works, and I get to finish my subscription!
IMO it is the best solution,… until Trump shakes hands with Russia and lifts the ban.
I disputed on my cc and explained why I was disputing. I paid for 2 years and didn’t pay for that scammy other av software. I did reach out to them though (the new AV people) to make sure they know I do not authorize them to have my cc info or my account and they cancelled and sent me proof of cancellation. Hopefully I do not see a charge in 20 months. Deleted all software from all computers as well due to the arbitrarily downloads I didn’t authorize.
Someone suggested using a VPN to update the database - evidently, it has worked for them! It is a bit tedious, but worth the 3 years subscription loss without any compensation.
No reply to email as of yet no. Went ahead and submitted with cc company for a pro rated refund.
Well, it’s also them saying it to us! They sold our info and gave our cc numbers to a company we didn’t give them permission to do. Pretty shady if you ask me. The protection isn’t even legit.
I filed a chargeback. I have never used any other email and they 100% did not notify me of any of these changes. I am saving the email the new av people sent showing I was cancelled though. They better not try to charge me again.
Right, so your company told me they couldn’t refund me because they didn’t charge me. Kaspersky charged me, for 2 years of service in June. I disputed it on my cc as I am not getting the service I paid for. I didn’t buy 2 years do rando virus protection force installed onto my computer.
I did get a cancellation and an email of proof of cancellation though so there’s that.
I disputed on my card, got my money back and their time for rebuttal is passed.
I did exactly the same thing. I didn’t even know about Kaspersky until I went to renew my subscription and wasn’t able to download. That’s when I found out about the UltraAV thing. They charged my card without my consent! I was livid and I immediately called both my credit card company and Ultra AV. I removed every smidge of it from my computer. They refunded my money and sent proof of cancellation. I’m also holding onto that just in case they reappear. So far, so good.
Thats great. I’m glad it worked out for you. What anti-virus protection did you choose?
I don’t think ultra AV charged me but I guess I need to check to make sure! Such a mess! I cannot believe they think any of this is ok. My son has been telling me for years to get rid of Kaspersky due to some sketchy stuff and I didn’t listen.
I don’t download anything so I’m just using windows security.
They used the card I had on file with Kaspersky to charge me. Fortunately, I check my account every day and I caught it when it was still in the Pending stage. Although, I still called my bank just in case UltraAV didn’t want to reverse the charge.
