Japanese content for Amazon Firestick?

Hello, first post here.

I recently got an Amazon Firestick, to be able to “Stream on TV” the things I already have access to in Japanese, like Japanese videos on Youtube and and anime on Crunchyroll.

However, I’d like more more things to stream in Japanese, Preferably without english subtitles, but that would be great if there was something with Japanese subtitles to follow along. I learn Japanese, and am seeking as much practice as possible through this.

So, I just wondered what all is the best I can do with my Firestick?
So far, I’ve been reading about FujiTV and a couple other things like that, which allow you to stream Live, actual Japanese Television. Knowing it can be installed and used on my Firestick, I’ve been thinking of trying out soon, but first I wanted to know if it would be illegal for me to use it?

I’ve also been wondering if it’s possible to somehow access the Japanese versions of Hulu and Netflix on the firestick? I’ve heard if you wanted to access those at all (On regular computers), you would need a vpn, but thankfully I also heard it’s possible to install a vpn on your firestick. So if I were to do that, would I be able access them on my firestick that way? I’m still sort of new to VPN use, so I’m not sure if any of this is legal either.

If you happen to know any other thing I could watch Japanese content on, on my firestick feel free to throw them in! I like anime and I like all kinds of Japanese Dramas. I’m from the US, in case that helps.

Thank you for time reading!

If you have Netflix and can spoof your location to Japan, you can get a massive amount of content and you just need your normal Netflix account (not region-specific). There’s also Japanese Hulu and Amazon Video. Those two require hulu.jp/amazon.co.jp accounts with Japanese addresses.

FujiTV/live tv streams are bootleg (illegal).

PlutoTV is free and has a dedicated Anime channel that runs anime in Japanese (with subtitles) 24 hours a day, including Bleach, Saint Saya, etc. NHK World has great video and interesting shows, but it’s always in English and I can’t figure out any way to watch it in the original Japanese.

FujiTV is a really good service - JapanTV and iSakura also both have apps that you can download and install on the FireTV. The process is a little more complicated than the average app, but the instructions are very easy to follow. This website has a recent review of those three apps on the FireTV I think:

I’ve tried using a VPN to spoof to Netflix in Japan, but it’s become much harder in the last few years. Every time I find an IP that works, Netflix shuts it down a short time later.

Try FUJITV Live service. It is compatible with your Amazon Fire stick smoothly. Really useful for you to learn Japanese. Moreover, you can download TV shows you like to your PC via the browser Chrome. The recorded video will be saved as FLV and can be recognized by the usual player like VLC player.

Good luck.

Alright, thanks for the helpful reply!

HA, thats funny: I recently discovered PlutoTV on my Firestick and have been fascinated by it for days for being free and having a channel with cartoons that I liked when I was little, and short lived cartoons I forgot even existed, plus a decent selection of movies, but I had no idea it had an Anime channel like that. Sounds like a good source to sleep to random Anime playing, so I’ll have to check it out. Thank you for letting me know about it!!
