Hey everyone! I’m looking for an ISP that will allow me to self-host in the Netherlands without the need for an external endpoint/VPN. Ideally it will provide dual-stack routable addresses (no DS-Lite), but I can go with IPv4 only.
Bandwidth-wise I am looking for at least 30Mbit up, but of course the more the better, and I wouldn’t say no to a symmetric fiber gigabit.
Bonus points for ISPs that allow to put their modem in pass-through and to use a custom router.
If you really need (more than one) static IP, check out KPN’s small/medium business proposition (KPN EEN MKB) Offers 1 static IP by default but if you want (or need ) they provide a routed subnet of 4 or 8 addresses. IPV6 is not standard but can ben requested and enabled.
Their consumer subscriptions offers a semi static ip, it CAN change, but it probably will not (unless you move). Mine has not changed in the couple of years since I moved. IPV6 is offered by prefix delegation, you get a /48.
Depending on where you live you get xDSL or FTTH, with the latter you can get 1Gb symmetrical. You can buy and use your own modem with both and self host whatever you want
Only consumer provider I know of that does static IP’s in the xDSL and FTTH space is Freedom internet.
For cable there is ZIggo, don’t know much about their infrastructure but I know for sure you have to subscribe to their business oriented product for static IP addresses. When I had their consumer subscription at home my IP changed a couple times a year.
I’m with kpn and I was able to replace their modem with my own entirely. You just need the correct settings in your replacement. I use a ubiquiti udm pro so this way I have no kpn hardware in my home.
