Many routers allow you to connect to vpn which would route all your devices traffic through your vpn connection.
To the best of my knowledge the best way is to have a router that supports VPNs between the PS4 and your internet. The PS4 itself doesn’t have the VPN functionality built in.

You can either use OpenVPN or Wireguard on their routers. You can easily generate and download configurations from the ProtonVPN website.

You have to find the manual for your router and find if it supports vpn configuration.
Maybe Google it like I had to

…just google the router to find the manual, it’s 2024, this stuff is online.
As others have said, you can’t get a VPN app on the ps4 directly so the router is your only way.

If your router doesn’t support vpn then you don’t have any options in your current setuo so you could
- get a new router that supports vpn like Asus routers
- buy a hardware vpn like Deeper Connect.

I presume you’re in Australia if optus.
If you can’t get into their settings or find the manual you might need to call optus and ask if they support vpns on their router.
