Is it time to mine?

I’ve been wanderiing around in an approximate circle and cannot get the hematite line to go any lower.

Is it time to start digging below ground? What is the best way to avoid digging 1/2 my lot looking for it?

Yeah. It’s directly below you when the line is flat like that and you walk in 4 directions.

This is DU, its always time to mine.

Short answer: yes, dig straight down.

Standard method is move only in the six cardinal direction. Narrow down north/south or east/west first as close as you can get. Repeat with the other directions. Dig straight down how far off you still are. Use the directional scanner if you don’t run right into it

Once you’re underground you can do the same process for the next node. but may need to go up instead of down.

All ore is underground so you will need to dig. There are sometimes a large rock or two above ground but the majority of the ore is underground. Dig down 75m and you should find it. Most T1 ore is 100-700 but you will find pockets outside of this range as well.

For t1 near the surface you can just pinpoint it using the ground level X and Y, find the closest spot, and mine down towards it. Once you start mining deeper nodes you have to take Z into account as well, but it’s basically the same process. Sanctuary is for learning and you’ll leave soon enough and likely never (or rarely) return.

It is time to leave the Sanctuary Moon. As you are limited to digging on your own territory there.
Take the shuttle to Alioth … you can mine in any unclaimed territory.

oh and if you don’t want holes everywhere on your tile - you can just dig one down - then from there dig around underground.

I’ve considered that. It would be nice to find a good carbon vein. Everything needs carbon

You have all the Tier 1 ressources in every tile on every planet. Sanctuary is just NOT a place to stay.

It’s true.

It’s a tutorial trap
