I’m a windows 10 user so it’s not like I can pirate stuff.

Not advocating piracy, but… what do you mean?
You can pirate stuff in Windows 10.
A VPN is worth it if you actually need and use it.
A VPN is very worth it. For less thn $10 a month you can avoid geo-blocking initiatives and access the world’s TV, and protect your data from being sniffed in public on un-protected wifi.
no. i use a vm+vpn to pirate, and my desktop public ip for everything else.
depending on how far away the vpn outlet is, you will take a speed hit.
Depends on what you use it for. Some use it as a demand for privacy from their ISP. That said, if you use chrome, google knows everything you do, thus the cia/nsa, etc as it has many ways (like autocomplete, tethering your google account, etc) built into the browser to siphon off your activity as metadata…so don’t fall into an illusion of privacy from big gov. But still, if you have a malicious ISP like AT&T / Comcast / TWC that are known for packet shaping and filtering ports like torrent or usenet or you just don’t want them to see what you are doing…it’s great for that.
It’s great for netflix library expansion until they stop that.
For games it could slow them down and mess up the experience as games often use udp instead of tcp
There have been some really cheap lifetime VPN subscriptions that made it too good to ignore. We’re talking around 30$ for lifetime subscription. I’ve bought two and they seem to work pretty well for my purposes: online privacy; public wifi; and if I ever needed to Torrent or Popcorn time something, which I normally don’t, it’s there.
VPN has no practical use for gaming, infact the opposite, it can increase your latency, other than that it’s worth to get even just for browsing
Nope.
If we’re all being honest it’s really only useful for torrents. I guess it might be helpful for IP ban evasion, maybe. A lot of sites are blocking VPN IPs for that very reason.
If you live outside the US it’s probably helpful to have a VPN to get a US IP so that you can access things only available to US IPs. However a proxy would probably work fine for that too.
It’s torrents…VPNs are for torrents.
No idea what you mean by the windows 10 comment but VPNs are mainly for normal browsing - it’s to protect your security while you go about your normal tasks.
windows 10 has a lot of built in ultrafascism like logging all your internet activity to the cloud
You can pirate stuff in Windows 10.
I thought all torrent trackers banned Windows 10 users? Every time I try to torrent something, it never seems to work.
Stupid question, but once I subscribe to the VPN, can I use it on all of my devices (phone, 3DS, laptop, work laptop) at no additional cost? I was mainly interested in using it with my desktop, which takes away the “[protecting] your data from being sniffed in public on un-protected wifi” advantage.
World’s tv? Care to tell me more? I am on VPN and perhaps I don’t use all features that are available.
You can use UDP on your VPN, but gaming would only work for offline games or games that can be played with a high latency.
What are they called?
It’s extremely useful to protect your privacy when using public WiFi.
Most VPNs with US IPs forbit torrents. Only non-US ones allow torrents. And who uses VPN for torrents. If you want to do torrents and pay for it too, you get a seedbox
Well, I guess that might be true if you’re dumb enough to set your torrent directory to your onedrive AND make it public.
Torrenting works normal, haven’t seen a change yet.
