Surprisingly the Japanese have a good release over there on Netflix. The old broadcast masters are in HD, and of course Fly Me to the Moon is completely intact. Most surprising is the fact that even though these versions are separate from what’s international, the episodes all have different language subs, including English. Def watch if you’re a purist.
I don’t know how to edit this post but the subs are actually slightly different, the Director’s Cut episodes have changed dialogue in some scenes so it’s nice that they put in the effort to ensure an accurate translation…

Idk about Proton but the free option has a Japan server, but you have to reroll like crazy
If you download them you can watch these unchanged episodes whenever you get back without a VPN

In the original release the show had the song “Fly me to the moon” as the end credits with a different version for each episode featuring different voice actors and arrangements.
The current version of the series on Netflix didn’t secure the rights to the song so they changed it. It’s one of the things long time fans were disappointed about.
