From what I’ve seen, Shadow is going to drop at midnight local time for console players. Right now I’m on the East Coast in the US, but if I change the region that should change the time I get to play it, right? I feel like I’ve done that for other games before but it’s been a while.
Well, I did the same with the base game launch, so I guess it will work too with the dlc
Fellow Xbox player. The answer is yes. I’ve done this for the past couple FromSoft releases including launch Elden Ring and Armored Core 6. New Zealand is 19 hours ahead of PST, meaning a midnight launch in NZ goes live at 5AM PST, for EST it would be 8AM. Grab a cup of coffee and cozy up!
I think they went ahead to prevent that as I can change the location to new Zealand and have 3 am time but when I open elden ring it restarts immediately and sets my time back to local and there is no access option. DAMN YOUUUUU
This works on xbox! Don’t worry about preload. At this time, it’s past full release in NZ, so go ahead, change your time, and download it a bit early.
No because it’s a simultaneous release. If you look at the release chart and do the conversions I think they’re actually the same times globally.
Edit - I was looking at PC times, for consoles I think it’s all midnight local time.

How exactly do I go about doing this? Just change the location to New Zealand and play at midnight? That’s it? Or is it more involved and there’s some things that I’m unaware of? Just curious as it’d save me calling an extra day off work! Any help would be appreciated 
So If I’m in Missouri and I do this when is the soonest I’d be able to play?

Unfortunately if you’re doing this from a xbox you can’t cuz pre load for us isn’t available. We gotta wait til release. They kinda got us good with that one.
You have to download it. Open the game and before loading a save file, go to the microsoft store option right under new game. Thats the only way it would let me download the dlc because i assume the store is just being slow or something. Its 18.31 gb and its installing for me right now
there’s no access option for me but I have all the DLC loading images and it isn’t restarting so idk what’s going on w this just gotta wait ig

It’s simultaneous for PC but it seems to be staggered for consoles
I got an update around 20G few hours ago and loading screens now have DLC images in them. I assume this update includes the DLC as well?
Can you even pre load on Xbox? From my understanding is the download doesn’t go live until release time for xbox players. So new zealand trick won’t work probably.
In elden ring main menu select the “Microsoft store” option and download the dlc from there. Restart elden ring and bada bing bada boom it’s DLC time.
The way I’ve done it for other games is by changing your console’s region in the settings. When you do that it should change the displayed time on your console, making it the local time for your selected region. New Zealand is around 16 hours ahead of where I am, so my hope is that when the clock hits midnight in New Zealand it will unlock for me here around 8 am (so long as I’ve changed my region.
Again, I’m not 100% sure if it will work but it can’t hurt to try.
