The download speeds in my workplace are too low (I think they limit them, that’s fine). So I was wondering if y connect to my home VPN through WG will the speeds increase?
Think about a VPN tunnel like this. If you connect to a VPN from your work’s internet connection, your traffic will have to be uploaded from your work’s internet connection to your home Wireguard server, uploaded from your home internet connection to the final destination, then the reply is downloaded by the VPN server via your home internet connection, and finally the reply is encrypted and downloaded from the VPN server via the work internet connection on your device. At every link in the chain, you are constrained by the available upstream and downstream bandwidth. You can only download something as fast as your VPN server can upload it, and as fast as your work connection will let you download it, no matter what VPN is in place.
TL;DR: You will be constrained by both the upload and download speed of the home connection AND the work connection, it will probably work slightly slower than the slowest of any of those four speeds, due to encryption overhead.
What is the upload speed of your home (or host) connection? That will be your download speed remotely. I m limited to “20 up” with my ISP’s residential plan so that is close to what I get out-and-about.

If they limit all Internet traffic then they’ll also limit traffic to/from your home VPN…

It’s 40 Mbbps. But, as u/insignia96 said, your remote connection would be as fast as your home connection to get good speeds.

Well, some employees need to use a VPN to do their work. So I guess it’s ok, why?
