If I change steam region via vpn, do I have to run vpn everytime I open the account, or just the first time?

Hi, I changed my region to get a game not available in my country using a vpn, and wondering do I have to have the vpn running everytime or just once :expressionless:

-Edit: one more thing, I have multiple accounts on steam with different emails, if one of them get banned because of region change, will the other accounts get banned as well?

Once you make the purchase on the account, that account get its region changed and you don’t need to use VPN anymore. The only time you use VPN is when you are trying to change your region or look at other stores prices.

For the ban, i don’t think your other accounts will get banned because they are not connected and only that one account committed the act.

Is it compulsory to buy using debit/credit card from the selected region for new account or can I just redeem steam wallet cards in new account and then it will permanently set my region too?

e.g If I create a US steam account, then redeem US wallet card in it using VPN, will it work? And will I be able to purchase games on it using steam wallet cards everytime but not use VPN after first time. I am thinking to purchase some sony titles which are banned in my own region on steam.

Are you telling me I only have to change my region in the cart setting only? And I paid for a vpn =|

What I did is put the vpn on the region where is the game available and add any game in the cart (the game I want is free) and from there I changed the location to the same one in vpn.

Thanks for the reply appreciate it alot…

Do you know if a steam region can be changed multiple times on an account?

You don’t need to use VPN for purchases if that account is already a US steam account. The only time you use VPN is when you want to change the region for that account by purchasing a game.

For example, I used to have a US steam account, decided to turn my VPN and set my location in Ukraine. The store prices changed but not my region, I then used a debit card from Ukraine to complete the transaction and therefore my account region changed to Ukraine. I don’t need to use VPN anymore and I can buy games however I like. I mostly used steam gift cards to complete purchases after the region change.

Disclaimer: as of 2-3 days ago, steam have been blocking the use of gift cards from other countries like Ukraine and need of a steam gift cards that matches the region.

From what i understood, once you get a game from a different region, your account gets changed to that region, using debit/credit cards from a different region of you have after the purchase will flag your account.

yes you can change it every 3 months!

I will create a new account by setting region as US on steam, I do not want to change my current account region as I am doing it just to play games that are banned in my region so even If I get banned from the other account my main will always remain safe. The issue is I don’t have a US debit card to do my first purchase.

Iam not planning to buy form this account made specifically for free stuff that is not available for me lol, but iam curios does buying ingame also flag my account?

Thank you for letting me know.

I did change me region but didn’t have to purchase, all I did was create steam account then run the VPN and set the country opened steam, I add a game to cart there is an option in the cart to change region, change it to the same VPN region and all a ok, without paying.

But our guy above said there no need for VPN unless you change region by purchasing for the first time, for my case the game I wanted is free, while you have to buy, that’s how I understood it.

I hope I was clear
