I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, I actually love how cheap it is but it makes me a bit worried.
I was also surprised at how cheap it is. I’m not sure, but there should be some resources online that explain how they make money. I should read them myself
It’s cheaper in the short run but can be more expensive in the long run since other popular VPNs offer discounts when you buy a lot of subscription time in advance or run various discount promos.
Mullvad also does not support popular streaming services (Netflix, HBO etc) which cuts the overall cost.
Lower device limit as well compared to some other popular VPNs that offer 7/10/12 simultaneous connections while mullvad only has a 5 device limit.
On a month to month it is cheap, but isn’t nord like 4 per month if you buy 2 years?
I’m not sure where you’re coming from here. I signed on to Mullvad last year after several years with Privado. Privado was/is cheaper but became much more unreliable hence the change.
It’s expensive compared to other vpns. Check out the 2 year plans on things like Surf Shark - $3/month. This is ‘expensive’ but well worth it.
Compared to NordVPN its much more expensive, but worth the money
Although they are based in Sweden, they seem to be the most reliable when it comes to privacy.
I’m using mullvad right now to access UK Netflix and somehow it actually worked. No buffering either.
I don’t understand the paying 1-2 years worth of VPN service argument, if you have to be stuck to them for 1-2 years it better be better. And most are not.
Who wants to use lesser VPNs and be stuck to them for years? When paying slightly more (it would be 5x12 so 60 per year) and getting better service? None that are “cheaper” are as good as Mullvad. Just saying.
Yeah, but more often then not? You are using lesser VPN quality + being tied for years for it to be “cheaper” is it worth not having Mullvad to have 15 saved maybe? Idk.
Well you got really lucky with that one, better remember the server name and IP addresses for future reference.
Streaming platforms constantly update their blocklists so enjoy it while it lasts.
How is Mullvad better? Genuinely asking. My pc always had trouble connecting with the app. Sometimes it connected other times it did not and i still don’t know what caused it. On iPhone it worked great, and I like the simplicity of the app while also actually giving u different options for people more tech savvy than me . But id also like to have many more locations. As far as I know both have no log policy, but I’m more willing to trust mullvad at that. The huge plus that mullvad offers is great anonymity through account creation and payment.
Not at all worth it, I am a big Mullvad fan. Just replying to the idea that it’s “so much cheaper compared to others” It’s not cheaper if cost is your only consideration. If actual freedom and privacy are what you value, then it’s awesome.
Sadly it only worked for my phone. I tried on my computer and it didn’t work
I’m t much easier to just read the comments then to type out a story, I’m lazy sorry. Lol Maybe it is better cellular wise. I can’t confirm on that front. I only use it on my phone.
That’s probably because IP addresses are different. Every Mullvad server has multiple IP addresses, the address that your phone got is different from the one that your PC has (they could be the same too, they’re randomly assigned).
On the main app screen where it says “secure connection” you can click on the server name below the city/country to see more details, and compare OUT addresses, they’ll likely be different. IN is the address of the mullvad server that you connect to and it’s static across all devices, OUT is the address that websites see when you access them and it’s changed every two weeks.
Those IP addresses rotate every other week so after a while your phone will get a different address that may no longer work with Netflix.
Make sure you have your server selection set to wireguard on your pc. Maybe you’re using openvpn on the pc and those server’s ip’s are blocked from streaming. Wireguard is much faster too.
