Greetings! I made this guide as simply as I could. There weren’t any helpful guides that included how to setup a VPN so I just made one myself after figuring it out. I pretty much don’t know a thing about VPNs, but this method of connecting has successfully got me playing. I hope you can enjoy Dragon’s Dogma Online as much as I am. If you can’t connect, I can’t help you. Hard truth, but yeah… This is the limit of my knowledge… If anything, I’ll upvote your comment for visibility
Once installed, open the program and double click here
It will then give you a list of VPN servers you can use. Double click on any Japanese server.
Now it will prompt you on what VPN protocol you want to use. I’ve had success with both, but more recently I’ve had more success with UDP than TCP.
If it fails to connect, try retrying a couple of times. Most of my successful connects start off with a failure to connect followed by a successful retry.
Once done, it will start downloading the main client.
Click on the green button to start the game. Enjoy!
Translation Pack Installation
Download the latest translation pack from /u/riftcrystal here.
If the latest translation patch does not correspond with the current Dragon’s Dogma Online Patch, do not install.
Extract the files to wherever you installed Dragon’s Dogma Online. For example, here. Replace anything that prompts. I suggest backing up the folder before replacing in case something goes wrong.
Helpful Tips!
You must always launch your VPN before opening the launcher. Once you have logged in you can turn it off.
Not everything is translated. Using the Google Translate android/iOS app’s camera feature can help from time to time.
I can’t even get past the VPN portion. I’ve port forwarded all the recommended ports that I could find (80, 443, 500, 4500, 52000～52999) and nothing seems to work. I’ve whitelisted the application in my windows firewall, tried turning it off and running it, all to no avail. I have my PC as a static IP since I port forward other games/apps too.
It feels like it’s some issue on my end (Error 2 in Softether) because as soon as I try to connect any (not just Japan) VPN through the VPN Gate plugin it it instantly spits out the Error 2 cannot connect. The UDP method takes longer, but after about 30-90sec it gives the same error without fail. I’m not sure if I’m the only one with this issue, but I haven’t been able to find anybody else having the same problem with DDO.
If anybody has some thoughts on the matter I’d greatly appreciate it!

Hmmm, I got to the part where I installed the launcher and now I’m trying to start it and log in. Whenever I start the launcher it ends up not responding after the 2 screens of just text. Any ideas? XD
I finished downloading the game. But now that I got to the screen where the green “Game Start” button is, after pressing that I always get this error. Any idea why this is happening?
What’s the ping? I mean seriously. I see all these guides but nobody ever saying something about the ping. I doubt the game is playable with a ping of 300. That’s what I get when I try to play GW2 on western servers while being in Japan. It’s already annoying but still playable, even though it likes to spike up to 2000… I can’t imagine a combat system like the one of DDO with a ping like that.
so im having an issue where everything is installed to where i need to press the green button and when i do the window just black screens should i wait really long or what?
When do I disconnect the VPN? It’ll do it loading bar thing, as displayed in the picture, then immediatly start downloading the full game (17 gigs). No matter when I disconnect from the VPN, either at the loading bar or when it’s downloading, it’ll stop me and give me a RED error message.
now, im stupid about the vpn thing, though i was able to get the game downloaded and installed, but when i turned the vpn off (or disabled the adapter or whatever) after it did the version check. i got an error and had to close the launcher. am i doing something wrong?
Impossible to download =/ 0.5mb/s at the most and every time I try to let it just download (many nights in a row now) the VPN disconnects 100% of the time and the download stops, then when I wake up to restart it, 50% of the time the download restarts at 0, meaning it is absolutely not possible. (it restarts at 0 even when I actively have 9 gigs or so in the folder, how can the Japanese be so technologically advanced yet put out such atrociously horrible software? This launcher is laughable garbage and the websites look like they’re from 2001)

When i turn off the vpn after i click login and the loading barper se starts moving, it always gives me error…
*I let it get to the part where its downloading the client, then i turned off the vpn, worked like a charmXD
Ether I can’t seem to log in, or I can’t DL the game. When I enter my code and password I click on the orange button then it goes to a DL screen, however nothing ever starts and an error appears.
Didn’t actually realize until today that this was out, when I saw someone streaming it.
