How to Get Tidal Cheaper on Android Phones [Guide]

In this guide, I will explain a method I recently found to get Tidal for cheaper.

As you (probably) know, Tidal has blocked the ability to purchase Tidal through a VPN to Argentina unless you have an Argentinian credit card. But it is possible to bypass this by purchasing Tidal through the Android app. I will explain.

(There may be unnecessary steps here - this is a method I discovered on my own. I only tested it once.)

Important: I recommend reading the guide before starting.

Steps:

  1. Download a VPN to your phone.

Keep VPN on until done!

Turn on the VPN and connect to Argentina.

  1. Create a new Google account. You can do this by going to:

Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > Scroll down > Add account > Google > Create account > For my personal use.

  1. Switch to New Google Account:

After creating a new Google account, switch to it in the Play Store app (tap profile picture in top right corner).

Note: If you live outside the United States, the prices in the Play Store should be displayed in dollars. For those who live in the United States, there’s nothing to do here - just hope the previous steps worked!

Additional Note: Prices in the Argentinian Play Store are displayed in dollars, not Argentinian pesos.

  1. Download the Tidal App:

Download the Tidal app from the Play Store. If you already have Tidal on your phone, uninstall it and reinstall it. Important: Note that when you install Tidal, the Play Store needs to be on the Google account you created, not your main Google account.

  1. Create Tidal Account and Onboard:

Once the installation is complete, go to Tidal and create a new account with the Google account you opened and perform the onboarding process.

  1. Verify Subscription Prices:

After completing the onboarding, the upgrade screen will appear. If you were successful, the prices should be:

  • Individual plan - $1.35
  • Family plan - $1.99

Keep in mind that you are buying in USD.

  1. Purchase Subscription:

Choose the desired plan. A purchase screen should appear within the app. Select the option to add a credit card and enter your card details. When you reach the step where you need to choose a country, choose Argentina. In Billing Address, enter the address of a random hotel in Argentina.

  1. Complete Purchase:

Once you have added your credit card, purchase the subscription. If the price in the pop-up is $1.99 / $1.35, you have succeeded! Purchase and enjoy.

Some points to note:

  1. The emails you receive from Tidal will be in Spanish. Deal with it.
  2. You can transfer your music using tunemymusic.com
  3. Secure Your New Google Account: I recommend not forgetting the Google account you created - it has a credit card on it. Enable two-step verification for the Google account, adding a phone and email to recover the account. In short - keep an eye on it! You wouldn’t want someone to hack into your account and you wouldn’t notice, especially since your credit card is stored there.

Good luck!

Thanks for the guide!
