How important is a 3rd party firewall?

The biggest reason I’m looking at getting ESET over Bitdefender or something else is due to it being lightweight, and causing a lesser performance impact in lab testing. I would gladly pay more money for a better tier, but I just really don’t want the bloat that comes with it, like password managers, VPNs, safe browsing, etc…

So, how important really is a 3rd party firewall? The base NOD32 antivirus already comes with HIPS, so is there really any security reason to pay extra for ESET’s firewall? I couldn’t care less about administrative stuff or extra controls, I only care about pure security.

Pinging u/goretsky for this one, since he works for ESET  (sorry for other ping, wrong account)

Windows built in firewall isn’t the best, but it works.

A 3rd party AV can be a pretty good idea.

Eset is a pretty good AV, with a strong firewall.

Hello,

Get the trial version, try it out for 30 days, and see if you like it?
