How can I search stuff online without being tracked or recorded in any way? 100%internet privacy, is it possible? I know it mind sound stupid, but what is the degree of privacy you get by just using the ‘privacy’ option on safari?

Privacy, in-private, incognito, or whatever it’s called for any particular browser means the browser wont save browsing history, probably clear cookies and temp folders upon exiting. Your ip traffic is not concealed in anyway by this
FWIW, the privacy option on Safari will reduce leaving traces of your online activity on your computer only. Any other device you connect to along the way (e.g., a wifi router, a firewall, your ISP’s computers, the NSA’s computers, etc…) can still see the traffic you are sending. This is why several others have also suggested ways of obscuring your traffic via encryption (i.e., TOR, VPN).

Given source and destination pairs, http headers, etc… Being anonymous depends on your level of use. Staying anonymous would mean no social media, purchases, use of cell data network. What are you staying anonymous for?
Tor and vpn. If it’s a free VPN then you are the product.
I mean even for just your own peace of mind or privacy it would be nice. I watch a lot of crime shows and search for phrases and other things that might be considered sketchy but I don’t want to be put on a watchlist or monitored because I searched for something for informations sake alone…just my humble opinion
