I use this exact image with great results, however gluetun sounds interesting.

The gluetun container can be setup as the network source for other containers, hence routing all internet traffic for that container through the VPN setup in gluetun.

Came here to say this. Just add Gluetun into your compose (with the correct options set per the docs) and you never have to worry again. You can use this website to make sure your torrent container is in fact routing traffic through Gluetun.
