I’m going to be in China soon for the lunar new year. I’ve got a good log-in streak for Reddit that I’d like to keep going. So I’m wondering, what would be a good VPN to use on my cell phone so I can still log on? Would also be nice to use YouTube; my son likes to watch particular children’s videos when he eats.

I had great results with “VEEE!”, I was able to use it for everything.
Vee or LetsVPN works for me.
As someone who has lived in rural China for 2 years (still here), the best I’ve found to still access everything-- Google, Netflix, HBO, YouTube, etc.-- is LetsVPN. Express and Nord do NOT work.
LetsVPN or Heibao (Avoid Astrill)
Astrill is overpriced and mediocre. LetsVPN is better and easier OR get a China based provider when in China.
I am typing to you on mullvad which has worked quite in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Chongqing
First, don’t use a VPN that has large China exposure (Hk-based) or heavily advertises (any appearing at the top of Google search). Lot of those will slow down during peak China hours or during holidays. I have Star VPN with my US-based Apple account. Love it.
Get 2-3, you never know when 1 might go down. Also test them before you get in China.

Used to use Express and Astrill - now I find LetsVPN is the much better . Always works and no need to do speed tests or change servers
I used astrill when I was in China Nov 2023 for about 3 months. Worked perfectly. I’m also going back to China for cny and will be using it again. It’s a bit pricy tho
My daughter used Astrill.
+1 and it’s cheap, not the best VPN in terms of privacy though but if your goal is to just use western apps it works a treat
Yep, been in china for a month and used LetsVPN almost daily and it worked perfectly. Price also nice and affordable. Definitely my go to from now on
hi! would u recommend star vpn over letsvpn? does it allow access to us apps like google, insta, chatgpt?
Just note that it doesn’t work with Disney or Prime etc.
Netflix will only have Netflix produced stuff, not thing they’ve licenced.
May be better if you use a laptop but tablets and phones gps are a roadblock.
I’ve used Astrill for years, but its not good anymore. Was down for weeks back in October and is still very temperamental. I mean, I’ve had to reboot my laptop twice just today to get the damn thing working properly.

Honestly I’ve never heard of a VPN that doesn’t permit access to those apps and I don’t know letsvpn . Star configures to about 30 countries. Hasn’t slowed or had outages in 4+ years.
