Can it host a VPN and get close to the 1gbps speed?

For the Purple and Gold:
WireGuard is 500Mb
OpenVPN is 120Mb

I definitely get over 100Mb on my Gold with WireGuard. But that’s just over cellular on my phone. I’ll have to try on some fast remote wifi to see how high it can go.

Consistently getting >900mbps up/down with NordLynx (NordVPN wireguard) on a 1gbps up/down fiber connection.

That appears to be VPN server speed. I’ve honestly never used a VPN server but interested to try connecting to it remotely. I’m in hotels all the time. But I’m taking VPN server to mean that you’re hosting your own VPN and not connecting to service provider; ie Surfshark, NordVPN, ExpressVPN.

Basically if I’m going to install a VPN on my purple to connect to a third party like NordVPN I was wanting to know what speeds people have seen. Even though I’ve ordered the purple I’m curious if that’s the route I should go or if I should go with something like PFsense.

WOWS!!! This is on a purple? I’ve been asking around wondering if I made the right choice by going firewalla vs pfsense and that’s crazy. I didn’t know nordVPN supported wireguard on router. Good news. I have Nord. I also have surfshark which has a server in my home city so that might be better but they don’t have wireguard support.

Confirm that you’re looking at the table “Hardware and Performance Comparison”, row “WireGuard Speed”. It varies by Firewalla device, so it’s not possible for it to be the VPN server speed.

Yes on a Purple.

We have a pretty good connection into Nord Miami - I don’t think I’ve measured anything less than 800mbps. The base medium latency is 6.4ms so that probably helps.

what kind of speeds has anyone been able to get on Mullvad, using their wiregard config file? Is it as fast as NordLynx?
