So, hooked up my FWG last night; love the info shared to me, and everything works perfectly, using my 3- eero pro’s 6 as AP’s in my house.
The only thing that I wish was avaiable, is a fast, firewalla based VPN option…I can run nord locally on many of my devices, and using their NordLynx, I am able to get 600-800 mb download speeds on my wired, I gig Cox service.
Using any of the options that are available natively on the FWG, like Nord or Open Vpn, using an imported config file, never gets me more than 80-150 mb down load speed…
I understand why these slow downs occur, but, I am hoping that the magicians who put this great product together, can find a way to make this better faster, especially with multi gig internet speeds becoming more prevalent…
Everything else about this product has met and exceeded my expectations, and, I know its not a big deal for me to just turn on a VPN on my local devices, and get the better speeds, but I can still hope we someday can do this natively on the Firewalla and have easy fast, VPN access on any device on our network…

Have you tried using ipvanish as a client vpn? For me it works amazing and beyond the specified bandwidth caps layed out in the specifications of my FWG👍
I integrated it into firewalla as a client, you have to edit the file slightly for it to work but I can help with that if you need it no problem

Had the same experience - fyi wireguard (faster than openvpn by ~4x) looks like it’s coming for firewalla VPN client in *973.
What I did was run the VPN client locally on higher performing devices (main pc etc), and then have the firewalla VPN client for everything else. To make it automatic, I segmented the network so devices that are running their own VPN client are on their own VLAN, and everything else is on VLANs with firewalla VPN client enabled. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best solution I came up with until firewalla releases their wireguard update.
did you integrate a config file from ip vanish and run it as a client within firewalla, or just as its own “app” on your local machine, while Firewalla was running as your router?

IP Vanish is a client that I do not subscribe to; I use Nord and cyber ghost…any way to get a fast config file into firewalla from those? I’ve tried it with importing a config file from Nord, and it takes my gig connection down to about 120 megs…

Just got a firewalla gold and I’m having a hell of a time getting ipvanish to work. What mods did you have to make? I did the suggested mod that firewalla suggests under their third party vpn client guide, but it didn’t work for me. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
thank you; I am doing the same thing, running wireguard or nordlynx on a local vpn client; with nordlynx, I get almost 700mb speed, through the vpn, on my 1 gig cox connection, so looking forward to anything that improves the performance vs. Open VPN or Nord UDP running natively on the FWG
not separating things into V:LANS at this point, until I see what *973 will bring
Being completely honest bud I haven’t tried any others as I tried ipvanish first an I was more than happy with the results…
Thanks. Nord had turned flakey on me, so I moved to IPVanish. But I’m using their UDP protocol. Other than the lack of broadcast acknowledgment, any security risk continuing to use their UDP for VPN?
I’ll have to try OVPN. What profile mods did you have to make?
Jealous of your 700 down. I only get ~450 down on Surfshark wireguard with my gigabit connection. Might test Nord just to see if I get better speeds, but might just be my location/Xfinity. 450 is fine for most things anyway.
did you integrate it directly into Firewalla, or, just run it on its own as a client?

agree; there isnt much you cant do with 450 mb speeds!
I would LOVE it if we can soon use the native FWG server/client combo, at near gig speeds on most of our networked devices…
