Hi I’m physically in the UK but using a phone from the US. Why is the BBC Iplayer app not even showing as an option in the Apple App Store?
Need a UK Apple account - store is set at account level, not based on IP.
Check YouTube for latest steps to create another Apple account - can then sign out of US App Store and into UK - although you may need a UK number to receive 2FA texts.
Yeah it’s a bit of a hassle. I personally didn’t want to make a new Apple account and go through all the hassle, so I just saved a bookmark to the mobile website to my home screen. Not ideal
I guess, but it works!
I’m confused as there’s lots of conflicting results. Doctor who was removed from US Netflix but it’s still on UK Netflix. I’m on Netflix in the uk and it doesn’t show. Do I have to have a Uk Netflix account for it to work
So even after doing that you have to pay for a tv license?
Series 1 to 13 are on iPlayer.
None are on UK Netflix.
You just need a BBC account, which is easy to set up. Use a UK address, any will work. If you’re at a hotel just use their address and zip code. Then once you’ve logged in, it will ask if you have a Tv license. You just press “yes”, there’s no follow up info needed.
You need to enter an address for a BBC account? Is this new? I set mine up with just an email.
I mean it’s at least 5/6 years since I made my account, maybe I mis-remembered. Even easier to do then if not.
I wasn’t calling you out on this. If they asked for an address, you could simply give any address. It’s not like they’ll confirm in any way.
Thing is, they have detector vans roaming the streets searching for unlicenced TV’s, but anyone can watch unlicenced on a PC/phone.
If they were serious, they could simply give each licence an access code to log in online.
Fact is anyone can watch the BBC, I don’t have the patience for streaming on a computer. I download everything in HD with get-iplayer and watch it properly on my plasma.
And I don’t live in the UK. And my mum uses the same login/pass for the iplayer app on her smart TV back in the UK.
Netflix would never stand for this.
