Do I need to keep my VPN enabled all the time?

This is a nooby question, I have qBittorrent bound to my VPN, do I need to stay connected to my VPN all the time or can I turn it off to play games and stuff without worry about getting nasty letters while still seeding?

If your client is properly bound to the VPN, zero torrent data can flow unless the VPN’s adapter is up and running.

If your VPN has split tunneling, you can leave the VPM on and only route the torrent client(or whatever other app/software you want) through the VPM while excluding others, like Chrome etc.

If you disconnect from your VPN, your connection thru qBittorrent will drop. This is the point of binding to the IP- not just the VPN- although they have somewhat the same effect. You can play games off VPN, but it’s the same as just closing qBittorrent effectively, you will not be seeding.

If your games are run through a specific application(s), you can allow those apps to bypass the VPN and use your normal Internet connection. This is called split tunneling, and lots of VPN providers offer it.

have to be on BUT look for “split tunnelling” in your vpn app.

i split tunnel ms edge to speedtest and qbittorrent.

you can check connected ip in qbittorrent via show> log and then execution log “connected to external ip”

edit: some vpn provider override dns resolver of other network adapter. if your pages loadup slow, firefox > settings > dns over https (cloudflare)

I’m also using: QBit > Settings > BitTorrent > Encryption mode: Require encryption.
The default is Allow encryption, but I haven’t had any peer drops when using Require. It’s just another step in the defence.

absolutely wrong lol. you have a ping loss via vpn cause you have to use a bigger route. more nodes. vpn also limits your max speed… you werent just wrong, you dont understand vpn at all as it seems

edit: check out split tunnel. you might need a week to figure out why it exists but it will open new knowledge for you.

Sounds like you need to invest in a better vpn then.

oh this for sure unless they fix their dogshit upload speed. ping and downspeed wise purevpn is basically on the very top on the market.

yet your comment doesnt even make sense since you dont answer on anything specific with it. if you want to deny what i wrote, then you should start with the very basics of data networking. i have my vpn and qbittorrent running at all times and use my network adapter and pub-ip for games. thats split-tunneling for you.
