Everything is supposedly setup correctly as it shows the VPN server but only continuously shows connecting and never connects… I did just upgrade to the xe75 pro if that has anything to do with it. Tried UDP and TCP and no luck. Tried multiple setups with different config files… sometimes it shows the server IP and sometimes it doesn’t. Help.
Running into the same on mine. It matches to an IP address, but never fully connects and gets the DNS. Commenting so I can hear if anyone has ideas on how to fix this.
Having the same issue. I’ve tried manually changing DNS as well.
For anyone still having this issue, I did the following and it is finally working:
I uploaded the configuration file (UDP worked for me) and added my server credentials, which you can find using these steps:
https://support.nordvpn.com/hc/en-us/articles/20280525082001-Setting-up-TP-Link-with-NordVPN
Also, I changed the DNS settings under “Internet Connection”, as described here:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/1855/
Change the WAN DNS to Primary: 8.8.8.8; Secondary: 8.8.4.4
Hope this helps anyone still stuck with this issue.
UPDATE:
Got it working! Obviously can’t be sure we’re all experiencing the same issue, but TP Link told me that there’s been some changes with Nord’s API and that’s what causing the issue specifically on the Android Deco app. Anyway, what you need to do is:
Configure VPN client > Custom (Not Nord)
Go to Nord portal > Manual Config > Credentials. Use these when the Deco app asks for username and pw. Still in the Nord portal, go to Open VPN config files, and download one (there’s UDP and TCP types. I used UDP but apparently either work).
When I did this, my whole network went down for a minute or so, then only my main Deco came back online. After another few minutes, it all restored to normal.

Any resolution? Just tried to set this up for the first time and running into the same problem.
Any updates? Same issues…
I am in a back-and-forth with TP-Link support about this. Will post a solution here if I find one.
Thank you for posting this. I’m following your steps but I’m getting Failed to save errors. Do I have to be connected to the master router or can I be connected to a satellite? I’m downloading the UDP OpenVPN config file.
Thanks man, this worked for me !! didnt work using the nordvpn option for the last 2 days. Since youtube did not allow me to renew my Argentina account which was $5/month for youtube family and wanted to rob 22$ / month off me, ive just cancelled that and now use Albania VPN for my TV to view without ads. Screw youtube, if they dont want my $5 , they can enjoy my $0 !!! ven if youtube stops Albania thing, ill NEVER pay more than $10 for youtube family, its just daylight robbery !!!
Sadly didn’t work for me either
No, but honestly I have given up for a while and was hoping the next time I try it that it works. Guess it probably won’t yet ![]()
Did you get anything working with TP-Link support? I’ve been having the same issue which is hilarious considering NordVPN is supposedly their #1 pick.
I don’t think there’s a specific router you need to be connected to, so long as it’s on your Deco network.
You’re using the login credentials that you get from the Nord portal yeah? These are different to the credentials you use to login to Nord.
Great, glad it worked for you. And agreed, I’ll happily pay that amount for t vpn service, but Google can get f***ed.
I know I had to update mine twice in a row (auto update was off), after having no luck for a couple days (X55 for reference).
After trying to set it up after the 1st update it was making me do it manually. After the 2nd time it just had me enter credentials.
Still doing so. Just provided them with logs. I actually linked the support staff to this thread and they said that the issue mentioned here has been resolved, but my issue was different.
I don’t believe them tbh. They can’t know exactly what this issue is, and all of the symptoms are the same.
Did anyone ever get a resolution to this?
I ended up getting a bit of a hack job solution working. Check my other comment on this post.
It’s not great still. It messed up my online gaming experience, even with thr vpn off ![]()
