Also why I wanted to know the equipment and if using wired or wireless
Can you ping/trace route to the ip of the server that’s failing? Cause if you can then we ain’t blocking it.
But we don’t block VPNs.
I guess that statement is technically true, Cox is not blocking the connection outright, but resetting it after a few minutes, that’s effectively blocking the VPN. I’m 99% sure Cox is messing with my VPNs, because the smaller VPN that I’m using now works for 1-2 hours before it gets disconnected instead of minutes. Unfortunately in my area the alternatives are much slower, so I’ll have to just deal with it for now.
Also if you aren’t using enough data on a vpn it might be disconnecting you for inactivity. Just a thought
OP is brand new account and only posted in Cox subreddit. Thinking it’s a troll or bot
Nah, I have downloaded more before through the VPN and haven’t gotten this level is disconnects. This is definitely Cox’s doing.
This is my throwaway.
I’m not sure how. But you never told me what hardware you got. Like modem at least
I’m using the Cox Panoramic modem that I’ve been always using. I think this is probably a change that doesn’t directly affect your dept (Business accounts) or they are piloting it in my area so you don’t know about it. Either way, I think there’s nothing either of us can do. The smaller VPN I’m using still gets disconnect every 1-2 hours, but at least it’s somewhat usable. I’m going to try out one more stealth connection protocol that’s designed to bypass China GFW, I really hope Cox’s DPI and blocking AI isn’t as sophisticated as China.
Oh yeah. I’m not a fan of pano modem. I prefer own modem.
We don’t utilize an ai to block connections… Ugh.
Honestly your issue is more than likely the pano modem causing the disconnect.
I think you might not know all the things that Cox is doing because it’s not related to your dept. I’m getting constant disconnect even with the smaller VPN now, so even if you don’t call it AI, there’s some machine learning going on that was able to guess that because I connect to a specific server a lot it’s probably a VPN connection, it start to disconnect me from that server after a few minutes.
I can access just about everything in Cox’s backend network. We don’t have anything like that. Trust me. The only machine learning we have is to help assist building up our network or connecting people.
You think Cox is willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on machine learning to just disconnect people from specific servers? Yeah, right.
it sounds more like you have an issue with your connection, the Pano modem(most likely this POS) or the server itself at the far end. Anyways, as far as this conversation goes I’m done on it lol.
