Charged double after trial ended even tho it was cancelled on day 4 of 7

Hello, I recently decided to see if Nord was something I wanted to use and started the 7 day trial that has a subscription fee of 49.99 for the first year after if not cancelled. Well I cancelled it before the trial was over and two weeks later I was charged 99.99. I’m in contact with their customer support trying to get refunded but we’ve been going back and forth for 3 days. They’ve offered a partial refund to mak the end cost 80.00 instead of 99.99, they’ve offered an extra year for free, and they’ve sent me several emails about all the features I may not have known about. It seems like they’re really trying to avoid refunding, and they won’t honor the offered price. Has anyone else had an experience like this, if so how was it resolved? I’m really frustrated with this and their charge ,if not reversed, will have a negative impact on my personal financial situation (especially with the constant inflation on everything else). Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

This is when a chargeback is probably warranted. Look into whether you can. If you cancelled it then they absolutely have to give your money back, or it’s basically theft using your saved details.

It looks like all of the billing was was through Google play. However I used the 1st party Nord website to start my trial and set it up initially and the Nord website is where I cancelled it.

I didn’t realize it would still be active though Google play since they’re a 3rd party after cancelling it with the service provider. Any idea how this works now?

I’ll try them too I guess. I’m not sure I like how I signed up one place and it got migrated to another and then disregarded info supplied to nord

Did you get it resolved? And what were the issues with the service you had in the first place that caused you to cancel

Nord didn’t provide enough different places to spoof the IP address from. After the trial I thought I canceled wasn’t cancelled they charged me double the offered price, it took 11 emails over 5 days to get them to stop offering me free additional services or discounts on additional years. Not once they offer to refund the the additional amount they charged (promotional price was 49.99 I was charged 99.99) if they had I probably would have kept it. They made it too difficult to cancel when they offered a 60 day money back guarantee, over charged me and while not life ending I still lost a few hours of time going back and forth with them. I don’t feel like a company that operates like this has much integrity, I can only imagine how quick to help they would be if their product actually caused an issue.

PS. Got an email stating I would be refunded in 5-10 business days today so hopefully it’s over

I’ve been having a lot of trouble trying to figure out what vpn to get it seems shady billing practices like that are pretty standard issue for the vpn industry sadly lmao thanks for your response

No worries. And I’m pretty sure there’s a group dedicated to VPNs on Reddit some where. May not be a bad place to start if you haven’t
