I can’t remember what prompted me, but I downloaded lynx after already having VPN, and then just recently update the VPN app. Can anyone explain to me the difference between the two? And should I be utilizing any other security software with my iMac?
How could you download NordLynx? It’s a protocol used in NordVPN app, so it comes with it. You just choose the preferred protocol in the app settings, so you can either enable it or use some other protocol like IKEv2 or UDP. As for other security apps, an antivirus would be the first choice
I had the VPN for a few months before Lynx was introduced, I remember having to download the additional package for Lynx but I could be wrong. I guess I’m just confused at what each is, or how they’re different from one another. When I start my computer, they try to connect to the internet at the same time, rendering both useless unless I close one to allow the other to connect. I really have no idea wtf I’m doing.
Do you recommend a specific antivirus?
He said explain like I’m 5 so I’m assuming he didn’t know this.
Are you thinking about the NordVPN IKE app v. the new NordVPN app (v 7.0 on the Mac) that was released around a month ago? If you have both installed, you should delete the IKE version.
As u/rational_centaurus said, NordLynx, which is Nord’s implementation of the Wireguard protocol, is one of the vpn protocols you can select from within the NordVPN app. Others are OpenVPN (UDP or TCP) and IKEv2, or you can choose “Use recommended protocol”. NordLynx is generally going to give you the fastest speeds.
