Bitdefender "deals" and "discounts" to loyal customers

  • It seems that regardless of when I check the homepage during the year, there is always a sale going on. Has anyone ever seen the product sold at its full price? At least in my country this is not allowed. It’s false advertising when something is always on sale.
  • Recently I got the usual email from Bitdefender to renew early to not miss the “discount”. The discount was 40%. Meanwhile, I have an offer in Bitdefender Central to renew at -35%. I checked the price directly on the homepage and there it was 44% off to everyone!
  • Is that how you reward returning customers, by tricking them into thinking they’re getting a good deal when it’s in fact above the standard price?
  • Why is my upcoming auto-renew set for the full price? Why do I have to manually renew each year to avoid paying 80% more than the de facto standard price on the homepage?

EDIT: Checked the homepage with VPN from different countries. Saw discounts from 44% (my country) up to 56% (Finland and Macedonia).

You can find cheaper licenses using other retailers, not directly with BD.

Just found that when you cancel auto-renew in Central they offer to renew for 50% off.

If you don’t cancel renew, $149. If you cancel renew and wait about a week or two, $15.

October 18 purchased total security at the 50% off, I read this post, and go to the site not logged in, and it is 61% off. Yea just got screwed out of $10. They run things like used car dealers. I need to try another product next year!!! Hay Bitdefender feel free to send me $10. I WAS a long time customer. You want to keep me FIX IT!!! WTF

I managed to get a 70% off offer. I want to tell everyone how, but I see that BitDefender is watching this page. I hate the marketing tactic, and agree that recurring customers should just get the discount. I however don’t want them to take this away. If anyone wants to know how, it’s simple and you can message me. I purchased Total Security today for $27 USD and didn’t need to use a VPN.

I only contacted them to make the aware their website had a better price than the email, I wasnt looking for any special discount. Their support just said ‘we’ll you can go ahead and purchase the one with the better price’, I had never thought of that! :p.

I do this as well, got a 3 year license for the same price that BD offers 1 year in their store.

I called to cancel my renewal and they offered me 60-something percent off (essentially the “everyone” price).
