Best VPN for Mac?

I never had a VPN, and am wondering what the best, most elegant, cheapest solution is. Would be awesome if it wasn’t a subscription but I may be too hopeful!

UPDATE: I went with Windscribe for $29/yr. Thanks for all the input! Any windscribe tip? So far running great on my mac studio but can i set it up on my wife’s MBP and our phones? Also which protocol is best?

€5 a month without any of those 2 or 3 years of contract

I pay 3 bucks a month for windscribe and it works without issues

I thought PIA was the best until I switched to Mullvad

I wonder how many downvotes I’ll get for suggesting Nord, which is what I use after getting a cheap three year deal on it. Evidently, it advertises on YouTube a lot which really pisses some people off. In my experience Nord servers are fast, it’s custom DNS service works well and I appreciate having it on two Macs, two iPads, two iPhones and an AppleTV off of one subscription. In the non-Reddit world it gets great reviews.

Any thoughts on Cloudflare Warp? It claims to keep your internet private, but is it equivalent to a VPN?

Proton VPN any day for me

ProtonVPN is decent. $60 a year paid annually. Their private email is nice as well.

I use Windscribe and am pretty happy with it. They run decent promotions every so often.

Proton deserves and earns respect but if you require speed, Nord! I have used many vpns and Nord has been by far the fastest (should mention I am in USA)

I have had great experience with NordVPN. I’m not judging it based on ‘elegance’ though – it’s been rock solid, has gotten through content blocking, and works across all my devices (Windows, MacOS, Android, Streaming boxes).

I had ExpressVPN. I was quite happy with it.

I used Mullvad for a while and it’s good, but Nord has more features for around half the price

Based on suggestions i have narrowed down to surfshark, mullvad, and windscribe. Thoughts between these?
