B站 is much more wild west compared to XHS. It’s a more raw experience of ‘netizen culture’ whereas XHS is more curated for influencers much akin to Instagram. Also when it comes to ACG fans, the natural Chinese tendency to organize manifests itself a lot more for better or for worse. The average population tends to be a little on the younger side too, much less of the middle class elderly auntie on B站, so you’ll see a lot more netizen slang and much less ‘proper’ Mandarin, a lot of slang like 哇塞, which is a Fujianese swearword which worked its way back into Mandarin from Taiwanese influence.
Also you can’t stream on B站 unless you verify your real ID. Not sure about videos.
