Bdo consume too much data WTF? ate my 50gb in 18days?

https://i.imgur.com/ZMlfYbu.png i’ve been always using mudfish vpn for almost 2.5+ yrs now instead of exitlag cuz my isp routing sucks… i was suprised my bdo consume too much data after year of hiatus playing bdo. now after 18days i was shocked lol. did they change something in the game? why the hell it eats too much data? i’ve been playing RO,WOW,gw2,runescape barely even use 1-2gb per week. why the heck bdo suddenly eat too much 50gb+ data? now i cant use it anymore i’m capped to 0.25mbps due to data penalty i cant barely interract to npc or attack mobs unless i upgrade to plan. this made me realy broke $$ ps: i turn off my vpn when theres update, i only use vpn when in-game

Im actually using my phone data to play the game these days, it’s not even consuming 500mb with 2-3 hours of grinding

From your screenshot I assume you play on SEA?

The THxSEA launcher was changed when they merged the servers. I remember someone made a similar post to you awhile back complaining about excessive data usage. He found out it was the launcher itself eating data for no reason. Not sure if that’s still an issue or not, maybe worth looking into?

All the other regions still use the old launcher, so they would be unaffected by this.

I don’t think I even went through 1 gb a month when I was using mudfish for bdo, before server relocation. Something’s messed up, you must have it set to all traffic or something.

Where do you live that you have to use data…?
50gb in 18 days is reasonable. When people are using their 100gb phone data in less than 30 days. Whereas you’re playing a pc game.

Did you patch the client or something on the limited connection?

Life protip. Stop using an absolute dogshit VPN and use a actually good one like proton or mullvad and this wont be a problem.

Seriously any VPN that has a data cap should not even be considered an actual product. Full stop. Hell basically any VPN that does youtube ad placements generally speaking shouldn’t be trusted a tall. Unless very firmly proven to be good otherwise. This is very much a service that is by default untrustworthy till proven otherwise.

Mudfish is also EXTREMELY sketchy by VPN standards and like nord, exitlag, wtfast, surfshark, private internet access, express, and tunnelbear among others. Should just flat out not be used. At all, basically ever. They basically all fail basic security standards to various degrees. Some FAR worse then others cough nord&exitlag cough

The rest are just woefully poor or subpar services and fail even basic standards of feature expectations. Gamers are generally an extremely uninformed user base for a service like a VPN. Making them easy marks for selling subpar services to. Any VPN that “aims” at the gamer market should just be assumed to be little more then a scam.

Seriously i can not STERSS how much you should STOP USING MUDFISH.

Why are you using a VPN anyway lmao

yes i noticed launcher stays in my taskbar even i already in-game. tnx i try to close launcher

Looks like it’s Mudfish VPN that’s limiting the amount of data he can use per month?

Many people outside of the US can get absolutely fucked over by poor routing. VPNs can allow you to use a different set of routing then the agreements your ISP have. Sometimes this is worse, sometimes its better.

For people living in south america, island countires, or connecting across country borders its very offten this is an improvement. Hell in worse cases it can almost half the RTT.

The better question is why is he using a fucking shit tier VPN that is little more then a scam service.

Mudfish is one of the many “scam” for lack of a better word VPN services that have sprung up over the years. Its one in a line of VPNs that basically are just there to make money as fast as they can. It like all the rest of the recent wave of vpn services. Shouldn’t be used.

Any vpn that claims to “optimize” your internet for gaming basically is just trying to sell snake oil to gamers. VPNs can provide benifits to gamers but the general marketing they use is a pretty good tell on the quality and reliably of the service. If a company is selling its service entirely off the back of half truths and white lies. You shouldn’t be trusting them, doubly so if its a free product.

Really the only two VPN services that can readily be recommend right now are proton and mullvad. There are very very very few others, that offer actual VPN services and arn’t just there to squeeze money from uninformed gamers like a bunch of idiots.
