Auto connect on fire stick 4k no longer working?

Anyone have this issue where you turn on your fire stick and app is stuck trying to connect to a server? Been having this issue lately for the last week

Had a similar problem with disconnects and hanging attempts to connect reported on this subreddit some time back. It’s become worse over the last two weeks, sporadically.

Still no response from NordVPN nor any fix for it even with the latest app version from the store.

Yeah this started to happen to me about 2-3 weeks ago. Only option I found is to remove auto connect and consciously open the nord vpn app to connect every time I use the TV. But I forget often and it seems to disconnect itself after a while. If anyone finds a fix plz let me know! Cheers

Having the same issue, on the FireTV it should be auto connecting which it hasn’t been doing when FireTV starts up. When I go to check it daily it’s stuck in the “connecting VPN” and will not change unless I do something like change the protocol which forces it to reconnect and instantly it starts to work again. This has been going on longer than 2-3 weeks though. Last update did not correct this issue.

UPDATE WITH FIX - I had a few email exchanges with Nord and they sent me the below. I made the changes as suggested and for about 1 week now I have been 100% connected to VPN via auto connect without any disconnects. Every time I turn TV on it is still connected.

Hope this works for those who have issues!

“Please try switching the connection protocol to TCP. It can be changed in the NordVPN application settings.

Within the Firestick NordVPN application: Open the Settings menu (below the “All Countries” and “Specialty Servers” options) > VPN protocol > OpenVPN (TCP).”

I have the same problem.

Has anyone filed a support ticket?

Same here with and without auto. After a while the connection drops and can’t reconnect. Started 2-3 weeks ago

I know this is an old thread, but has anybody seen a fix other than the latest one that was posted as I see others are still having the same problem? I know on mine every time I turn the TV on the VPN is trying to connect and then after I watch TV for a while when I go back to check the VPN connection it’s disconnected and trying to connect again.

Glad I’m not alone. Hopefully they see this and it should be fixed.

Also whatever happened to the Killswitch feature? Customer support mentioned to me a few months ago it was in development

Have posted a fix. Hope it works for you!

Still having this even with the update

Hi Sammy, that is a workaround and if you use Mesh you need NordLynx. Interesting though for me it appears to be working now for about 5-7 days ago. I made no special changes apart from toggling the protocol, like you are also suggesting, to correct it temporarily. So possibly an update came along or something on the backend was fixed.

I would agree with those who have requested a “kill switch” if VPN is not on it prompts to let you know that.

Was having this issue and got the same feedback from Nord about using TCP.

So it appears the issue lies with Nords own NordLynx protocol which id rather be using on my firestick as it’s quicker on IPTV channel changes and less taxing on the systems already limited resources.

Still not working for me

You’re definitely not alone in this, my Android TV has been like this for two weeks, constantly disconnecting and taking forever to automatically connect (and not connecting)

Mine still keeps disconnecting. Going to give tcp a shot. Let’s see and thanks for the update!

Yup fire stick buffers a bit more often but at least it’s useable. Once my sub runs out then I’ll change VPN I guess

Having this issue and came across this thread - did this fix work for you?
