Hi I have a CP1490 appliance running R77.20.87 latest private Build 163. I was previously on B160. Understanding these appliances are EOL. Since the upgrade to B163 I get on the notification screen License Activated. License is set to expire Jan 18, 2038. While I know my subscription blades are expired the firewall, advanced routing, identity and IPSec VPN is set to never expire.
I am considering to go back to firmware B160 but wondering if anyone encountered this? It is a local managed device and device is activated and registered. Everything is working
Thoughts ?
This is defintly something you should be concerned about in about a decades time.
I believe you already have for your answer on CheckMates https://community.checkpoint.com
lol thanks don’t believe will run it until than. Just not sure why it notifies of this now vs. previously if it’s related to the firmware or checkpoint annoyance? I would expect never to be never with a time limit and this Unix bug has been sorted.
Curious to know if others who are still running these appliances have the same issues
Not really. I have yet to get a proper response as to why now the appliance every 3-4 days at exact
Midnight has the notification information saying License activated. License will expire on Jan 18 2038? Don’t care of the year. The appliances are activated on a file license which the software blades are perpetual and never expire so why the message?
I think you might be missing the context of what he is saying. It has been around a decade since that version was released. Now that it is a decade later, You should be concerned with a firewall that no longer gets any security patches. The remote VPN with Checkpoint gateways had a huge security issue in the past several months for example.
Aligned and understood. CP did provide the firmware B160 that addressed the zero day vpn. Nonetheless there can be more discovery in the future. Intent is to use these device as switches and routing and edge firewall will be latest
