I guess SafeShell offers something like this, basically a split mode VPN where specific apps go one way and other apps go another. So iPlayer thinks you’re in the UK but YoutubeTV thinks you’re in the US.
As I understand it SafeShell doesn’t let you configure which apps? Ideally I’d do:
YouTube - Albania for no ads
iPlayer - UK
YouTube TV - no VPN, my actual location
Etc. Given the configuration requirements this isn’t an ideal fit for an Apple TV app of course, in that most people won’t understand what this is and configuring things with a few clicks may not be easy.
You can do this just with DNS, with Control D - Full control plan. You can redirect any service to any country and it works great. Seems complex and it can be, but if you want to do just what you said you create a profile and a device and make a redirect for the service that you want.
You can then install the Private DNS as a profile on the Apple TV (you add the profile in General > Privacy > select “Share Apple TV Analytics” and press play button > put this url: https://api.controld.com/mobileconfig/xxx/ - replace xxx with the Resolver ID of the device).
I can’t recommend Control-D for this. The sidebar for /r/controld says " THIS IS NOT A GEO-UNBLOCKING SERVICE. "
You don’t see these issues because the moderators are deleting the threads when folks bring up issues. When you do / if you have issues, you’ll get no support.
Control D is not a SmartDNS service, just like a hospital is not a restaurant (even if it has a food court). These are 2 different things. To put it in another way, you are mad at a screwdriver because it cannot hammer in nails.
If Argentinian HBO was your sole use case for Control D (which we do not advertise at all), cancel your subscription and look elsewhere.
It’s even more shady because they were advertising this as a feature up until mid-October/Early November on their website.
I used the service since launch and this is exactly what it is, among other things. They do not advertise the “geo unblocking”, as they do not focus on this or guarantee it, but as I said, it works flawlessly. It may not work with that very specific use case, but you didn’t contribute with anything making this post.

If someone is going to pay money for a service which the full control service is, don’t you think they should be aware of what they may or may not be getting into?
If I’m paying for a service, I expect a certain level of support.
