I cant get anything to load with the VPN active. Ive tried OpenVPN and Wireguird, turning off split tunnel, and so on. Nothing fixes it. Ive restarted my network hardware and nothing.
I tried it on my Verizon hotspot and it worked perfectly. Connected and loaded pages. Super slow since hotspot and VPN is slow but it worked.
Turning it off loads page instantly.
UPDATE: I changed my DNS to PIA from Handshake… Its slow but it works. Any reason for this?

So VPN works on hotspot but not your home wifi?
I would think it would work fine on a Comcast home wifi. It takes some fiddling to get it to work on the xfinitywifi hotspots that have the Captive Portal login. iirc, setting to port 80 TCP usually works.
I have noticed lately mine is extremely slow and then my internet just flat out stops and the only way to fix it is disable/enable my Ethernet adapter driver. I think it has something to do with using the split tunnel. If I have it off it doesn’t seem to do it. But the only reason I have it on is b/c the VPN is slowing down my internet too much.

I know the post is old but i’ve been having the same issue for about a year, last year nord wouldn’t connect(wanted to try it out after 3 years with pia) and now back with PIA and it won’t connect either.
it connects to the VPN server and shows me an ip, but my network says “no internet connection”, i’ve tried on Android, IOS, MacOS and windows, and all have the same result
I believe it’s something within their modem/router, when I connect directly to it I can’t access the internet with a vpn, but it works flawlessly if I connect to my google wifi mesh network.
changing the DNS didn’t work for me
I never had a problem with Verizon and vpn. I just started a new contract with Xfinity, and so also the problems with the vpn started. With other problems of course. Unfortunately I live in a complex where you are forced to use Xfinity otherwise I would never never have Xfinity.
I have Comcast/Xfinity. I have no issues after I found a PIA server on East Coast that works for me.
Took me over a week, through trial and error to find a PIA server.
Take your time and test various servers. There is no: “one size fits all solutions.”
Yeah, My hotspot is Verizon and home wifi is Comcast… As I stated above. Ive restarted my whole network. Router and modem.
Im not sure if your understanding me… Im using the app. It “connects” on both my comcast and my hotspot. On the comcast internet it never loads. On the hotspot it works without issue…
I dont have Comcast’s crappy locked down hardware either. This only started a few days ago. Before then, it worked perfectly.
Yeah, Im on Mac. PIA doesnt support Windows 7 anymore. So I switched to Mojave.
Yeah, Its not just slow. It flat out doesnt load. Pretends to load but when I disable split tunnel, change server, multi hop, and the protocol it doesnt change. Only change is turning the VPN off.
Wonder if Verizon are messing with VPN connections.
Can you ping 1.1.1.1? Just wondering if it’s a DNS issue
