Recently Psiphon has been draining the main problem of my phone’s battery draining. Are there any other VPN apps out there that don’t drain the battery that much?

I don’t it really weird that my school blocks pretty much all VPN services on the play store except psiphon…
I used to need Psiphon on my phone and tablet to access my workplace’s internet; then I found out Adguard’s VPN service is enough. Meaning I can access all the internet I want AND have ads blocked with one simple app 
in my experience every VPN app drains battery. I’ve read explanations that the VPN app appears on the top of battery stats only because all the traffic is routed through it, and the system thinks that the app is constantly in use, but after getting rid of Opera Max I gained 1.5 h of SOT on the next charge.
I am personally using Ivacy VPN and it works like a charm. It’s just $1.83/ Month, and in my opinion it’s the most economical VPN currently in the market.
Yeah my friend just reccomended me to it when we finally got school wide Wifi in September. Just recently it’s been killing my phone.
I’m trying it out right and it does the job of blocking ads pretty good. I’ll try it out in school tomorrow to see how it is as a VPN
I tried using hotspot shield on moto g3. Found it to be more shitty than psiphon.
Yeah i know it makes my phone go slow also and even though i have an ad blocker (AdAway) it still shows ads which is inconvenient, also the school wifi is fast ( i think it’s like a gig down and up) but w/psiphon it’s slow as hell
