I already tried to solve this issue with the support chatbot (Didn’t help), and also contacted human support (No answer yet), so I am taking my question/problem here:
After just installing NordVPN on my Android TV (Sony Bravia Kd 55xe9305) which is connected to the internet only via ethernet-cable, all connection to the ethernet is lost everytime I connect to any NordVPN server after a couple of seconds, and I have to replug the cable or turn the TV off and on. I tried solving this problem by disabling and enabling CyberSec, using different servers, etc. but so far nothing has worked. I read that there was a way to circumvent this issue by split-tunneling, but the NordVPN Android TV App only allows me to add “trusted Apps” or exceptions from the VPN usage, and contrary to the Windows App, this one does not allow for inverse split-tunneling.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I appreciate you taking your time to read this and possibly help me!
Why not install NordVPN on a router that only that connection uses? That way, the Android tv would not do any if the processing and the app would not be needed on the tv itself. I’ve done this before and it works well. I used an older linksys 1900ac that I got online for 20 dollars. Then, I installed openWRT on it. Of course, since you only use the Ethernet connection, you wouldn’t even need to mess with wifi.
I have a similar problem, for me the connection speed is 20 mb on Ehternet through every server possible. When I turn off the vpn the connection speed is 200mb. I’m not sure if you can fix it or if it’s just something to do with the android version of nordvpn. . .
Hi ya, I know this is late, but changing the protocol to OpenVPN UDP from recommended seems to have fixed it for me. Also I switched it to auto connect. Hope this helped
It’s not the NordVPN app. It’s the processor on the Android TV. It can’t process the VPN encryption fast enough. That’s why I proposed he use something else, like a router, to run the OpenVPN client. Then, connect the TV to it. Something else has to process the encryption. The TV can’t even if the Android app runs fine.
