I currently use NextDNS which works well but it can’t seem to block the SoundCloud ads. Interestingly it only gives me ads for SoundCloud on SoundCloud. Help
Luna Adblock is finally working again on IOS
I know this has nothing to do with adblockers but theres 3 things i do to not listen to ads
-
You can just close the app and re-open when it starts. Most of the time you can just continue the song you were playing without an ad
-
Not great but… you can keep pressing the shuffle icon (which does mean you can’t listen to specific songs). It doesn’t cause any ads to play, however you do have to press it again before the song you are listening to ends or an ad will play
-
(My favourite) This isn’t exactly the most imaginative idea but you can just turn of your wifi, start playing a song, turn the wifi back on (skips the ad)
If you can’t find a solution with the vpn this might help
In iOS its tricky, but the only way I found was to use youtube in the Brave Browser app.
Just ditch the youtube native app. If you’re not paying for premium, there is no reason to have it installed tbh.
Due to the fact that the ad comes from a safe internal server rather than known ad servers is the reason why dns based blocking won’t work. Same reason why ad insertion by youtube isn’t blocked. Android apps exist to patch other popular Android apps to remove ad functionality but that’s not allowed in IOS so Iphone user are more limited in ad blocking. Subscribe or dont use the app.
I was using it but apparently it’s spyware so I don’t use it
Yeah, I used to do those things. I found a solution. I just sideloaded an enhanced version of SoundCloud that is a premium version. Works great. Free to
AdGuard has a feature if you click share on YouTube then hit more you should see AdGuard for YouTube if you have AdGuard installed
I used Luna and it blocked the internal ads but then I found it it’s spyware so I don’t use it anymore. I am told VPN style ad blockers would work I just don’t know which one to use
Can’t blame you there
can i have that please
I use Adguard Premium and allow adblocking on Safari and in-app web ads and Adguard DNS. Not sure if that will block the Soundcloud ad as i don’t have an acct with them Adguard only blocks in-app ads that use web, but it works well as a general adblocking solution given IOS platform restrictions.
If you like Adguard and want the Premium features you can get a lifetime sub at Stacksocial https://www.stacksocial.com/sales/adguard-personal-plan-lifetime-subscription $11 for 3 devices
Yep. It’s the only correct, effective answer you’re going to get.
Look up side store on YouTube for tutorial
Yeah it won’t. It’s an internal ad issue. I have basically everything blocked except those internal ads. I use NextDNS + Adguard safari extension + lockdown privacy/surfshark cleanweb
Is that deal for adguard’s dns based services or a separate thing? Sorry if its obvious and I am just being an idiot. Wouldn’t be the first time. I’d love lifetime Adguard-DNS, but don’t want to buy the wrong thing
There is always more than one effective answer
you’re doing the best that can be unless you want to trust encrypted traffic to Luna.
Adguard is confusing because they have different features depending Android/IOS/Windows/MacOS and free and paid tiers.
This is the difference between Android Free and Paid for example . Blocking in-app web ads would be the big benefit of paid https://adguard.com/kb/adguard-for-android/features/free-vs-full/
for IOS the biggest difference is custom filters. You can use public Adguard DNS with both free or paid. Adguard has a separate custom paid DNS service if you need more options then the public DNS. Its not worth it for most people IMHO.
If you want a subscription to Adguard Premium/Pro, the custom Adguard DNS, and the VPN they have a bundle deal 5 year license for $60 https://www.stacksocial.com/sales/the-all-in-one-adguard-bundle-5-year-subscription
I can give you an infinite number of examples where that is certainly not true.
