Does anyone else have trouble connecting to kroger.com or homedepot.com? Are there any workarounds? I really like using Proton VPN but not being able to use these two sites is really frustrating.

Yes, I’ve had issues with Home Depot. The solution is to use a country appropriate VPN server. So if you’re in the US accessing HomeDepot.com then use a US VPN server to access the website.
Can you try different servers? Can you also report it through the app please?
it’s more and more common that shops are blocking it, that you get banned from various websites like discord, github etc. or randmly shadowbanned on reddit, twitter (and more?). and don’t get me started about proton mails that end in spam folder or just denied and sent back
Yeah I’ve had issues occasionally with Homedepot. More often Lowes. Recently the REI site was causing me all kinds of issues. I’m always using US servers. I’ve found that some sites block access to the main landing page when on VPN, but after you click further in you can be on a VPN. Sometimes switching to a different server fixes the problem, for a while. Sometimes clearing data/cookies on the the site that is refusing to connect will help. Its really a PIA, but this is what you have to live with when attempting to use the internet with some degree of privacy.
Home Depot does geo checks and when you’re on a non-US server, it craps out on you. When on a US server it works for me.
This week I discovered that Cloudflare (the company apparently behind all blocking against VPN servers, at least all I’ve encountered) is now also blocking access to Amazon.com on Miami Proton servers. Let’s see if this spreads to other cities. u/protonvpn

This hasn’t worked for me, even when selecting a VPN server in the same state, except for a few rare times. Do you use Proton’s built-in adblock or malware protection?
Sometimes I have luck changing servers but not always. It’s frustrating because I don’t know which servers to try and it’s just hunting around and getting lucky (or not). Often I don’t have the time or patience for it.
I mostly run into this issue at home where I have a network-wide VPN on my router using Proton’s OpenVPN or Wireguard protocol. But just to add, it also happens on my phone using the Proton VPN app so I’ll report it there.
I use Discord on a regular basis and have never had any hint that could be interpreted as a complication. Desktop + VPN.
This sounds like a nice trick. I’ll have to try navigating to another page next time. I wonder if Proton VPN’s built-in adblocker affects this issue or not.

I don’t believe so? The VPN settings are largely overwhelming for me, so I don’t mess with much other than what server to connect to.
I use Firefox with some privacy & security addons, or TOR if possible. The VPN starts and autoconnects when the computer boots up, so it is always on.
I can understand the frustration. Thanks a lot in advance for reporting it! Only in this way, the team can try reproduce it on their end and work on solutions.
I tried signing up for Discord while on Proton VPN and also got instantly banned.
i got instantly banned after creating my first discord account over vpn on desktop no so long ago and i saw people on reddit complaining about reverted random ban for vpn too so i assumed it could be an issue or maybe it’s just because i created it from an third party electron discord app and it have a generic fingerprint so if someone got banned while using the same vpn and app it match? idk, i made another one from another vpn server + in a vm and from browser then switched to the electron app in vm and this one worked, also one day i got banned from github for no reason at all as all what i was doing was reporting few bugs in apps and never engaging with people or uploading materials
