Hi,
I have a fresh Hetzner Cloud server using Ubuntu 24.04 without any firewalls added during the setup.
After the server was created I upgraded the packages and then proceeded to install openvpn.
When trying to connect to the outgoing VPN from the server via TCP port 443 or UDP it seems that the port is blocked.
Pinging the VPN host seems to work and the DNS seems to resolve .
It is also worth noting that I’m able to connect to the VPN using my local machine.
To clarify, I am attempting to connect to a VPN service via an openvpn config file from my Hetzner Cloud Server.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
change the port back to 1194/udp and test again

The VPN service might be blocking the incoming connection because it’s a hosting IP block.
Sign up for tailscale and don’t mess with openvpn. Tailscale is free and you don’t have to worry about it going down.
Thanks I have tried and run nmap seems it returns open but filtered. As suggested I think it may be blocked by the VPN.
Thank you, I think you are right. I’ve tested using wget, curl, and telnet to Google 443 seems to work fine.
Thanks for the response, I’ll take a look into this.
Just wanted to say thank you for being grateful
